Teach English in Daping Yaozu XiAng - Hezhou Shi
A quick scope on the evolution of different techniques applied to language teaching is presented as an introduction to what is going to be the chosen methodology for this training program for new teachers: the Engage, Study and Activate (ESA) approach. This unit is mainly focused on presenting this method, describing its components and showing different structures that can be configured to plan a lesson. It is underlined the importance of elicitation as a key component of the ESA process in TEFL, and several examples of elicitation techniques are presented, as well as tips to consider when applying them. A set of ideas about practical activities corresponding to the three different ESA phases is extensively exposed, to finish with the importance and nuances of giving feedback and how and when properly applying different correction techniques. Though I'm pretty aware of the ESA method and its different ways of applying it, it's always good to have a handy set of ideas compiled together for future reference, besides discovering one or two that are new to me. The acknowledgement of other methods unknown to me for EFL teaching was constructive and some of them can provide elements to improve my lesson planning in the future.
