Lesson planning can be a good idea and is largely dependent on the experience of the teacher and the degree of preparation required. However it could also be a bad idea as it may lead to a lesson which is too rigid. A good lesson must be flexible to students' needs, maintain a student-centered flow as well as maintaining the intended direction of the lesson needed for the students to achieve the lessons' goal. A good lesson plan can ensure all this. Plans are made in order achieve expected goals and intentions for each lesson. they are made to provide a working document during class that can be referred to if needed. They are also made to keep a running record of the class in terms of materials used, activities performed and content learned. A formal lesson plan structure should contain specific information used to keep track of each class. Learner objectives reminds the teacher of the students' goal. Personal aims helps the teacher with personal continuous assessment and improvement in teaching style. Language point focuses on the theme of each lesson.
