When teaching special groups, the first step is to identify what language level the student may be at. The type of classes include; the absolute beginner-students who have no English at all, the false beginner- students may have studied or been exposed to English previously but have not retained much, the adult beginner- they often have made their own decision to learn English and as a result will usually be highly motivated; the young beginner- young beginners often lack motivation as they havent usually made the choice to study and cannot see the benefit of learning the language; the beginner without Roman alphabet-such students will need a lot of initial work on basic literacy skills. Another aspect is teaching individual students as this can be of great advantage for the teacher. Individual lessons has no mixed level, usually highly motivated students, developing a close relationship with students etc. Activities for indiviudal teaching includes short stories, idioms, horoscopes etc. Teaching children can be fun. It requires patient repetition, positive encouragement and frequent praise for the child to develop a sense of self- esteem and is less self-conscious about potential mistakes. Children need frequent activities, which are exciting and fun to stimulate their curiosity. When teaching English to children always use English as the language of instruction, do not use there native langauge, speak slowly in short and direct sentences, be prepared to make fun of yourself etc. Also, it should be noted that children have high engery level and it is quite likely that teachers may have to deal with disreuptive behaviour. The reason for these may vary to include problems at home, peer pressure, attention seeking etc. Teaching \"Business English\" doesnt require that knowledge of the business. Here, individuals can be taught on a one-to-one basis, in-company group or in-school group. In these groups we have different type of clients. Ages can rage from early 20s to mid 50s. However, an issue with teaching business people is that they are often tired. Attendance can be irregular and there is also the possibility of students pulling out of the course. Homeworks may also be difficult for them due to pressure from work, family etc.
