This is what i have learnt from this unit: 1.Present simple tense. Form - subject + base from (+s/es) (Affirmative form) subject + aux. verb \"do\" + not + base form (Negative form) aux. verb \"do\" + subject + base form (Question form) Usage - habitual/routine actions, facts, permanent situations, commentaries, directions/instructions, newspaper headlines, present stories, historical sequences. 2.Present continuous tense. Form - subject + aux. verb \"be\" + verb+ing (Affirmative form) subject + aux. verb \"be\" + not + verb+ing (Negative form) aux. verb \"be\" + subject + verb+ing (Question form) Usage - 1.to talk about an action that is in progress at the time of speaking, 2.to talk about a temporary action that is not necessarily in progress at the time of speaking, 3.to emphasize very frequent actions (often using \"always\"), 4.background events in a current story, 5.to describe a developing situation, 6.to refer to regular actions around a point of time. 3.Present perfect tense. Form - subject + aux. verb \"have\" + past participle (Affirmative form) subject + aux. verb \"have\" + not + past participle (Negative form) aux. verb \"have\" + subject + past participle (Question form) Usage - 1.talking about finished actions/states that happened at an indefinite time (general experience without specific detail), 2.thinking about completed past actions during an unfinished time period at the time of speaking, 3.talking about something that happened in the past that is still true now, at the time of speaking, without knowing if it is likely to continue or not, 4.describing past actions with present results. 4.Present perfect continuous tense. Form - subject + aux. verb \"have\" + been + verb+ing (Affirmative form) subject + aux. verb \"have\" + not + been + verb+ing (Negative form) aux. verb \"have\" + subject + been + verb+ing (Question form) Usage - 1.communicates an unfinished and ongoing activity, when we want to say how long it has continued, 2.describes a recently finished, uninterrupted activity with present results.
