I had a British teacher back when I was reviewing for my IELTS exam. He once told us speaking and writing are somewhat congruent to each other. He said that if you are able to speak fluently your accuracy in writing will also be good. Now that i have read this lesson, I can see that they can be similar but different in many ways especially in teaching. Personally, speaking can be tricky for you have to respond instantly. Students tend to repeat the same things they say over and over again or their minds become totally blank and be speechless. On the other hand, writing is more convenient because ample time is given for you think about what to write although grammar can be challenging.
