There are a variety of roles the teacher has when teaching English to a classroom. The teacher is a model of the English language so it is important to lead by example. The teacher is also an assessor to give feedback and a tutor at times when an individual student may need help. The teacher should be able to lead the classroom and make it a fun, welcoming atmosphere for the students to learn. Above all else, the teacher should be kind and patient with the students and recognize each student learns at different speeds. It is important to play to the strengths and weaknesses of each student, while not making them feel embarrassed if they aren't processing or learning parts of the lesson.
