Lesson planning is an important aspects of delivering effective classes. Especially as a new teacher, lesson plans are a helpful guide for teachers to use to structure a lesson. More experienced teachers may only need a few notes on a piece of paper. Even when using a lesson plan, teachers should not be too rigid in their lesson, and should always allow for unexpected events to occur. A lesson plan should include learner objectives and personal objectives, teaching aids, language point, anticipated problems, procedure, phase, timing, interaction, class level, number of students, date, time and names. Self evaluation is also another important aspect of a teacher's self reflection process.
