This unit went over conditional sentences and reported speech. Both types of sentences can have a great deal of variance based on the context in which the speaker uses them. There are five types of conditional sentences that are based on the tense of both the conditional verb and the consequential verb. Reported speech also varies a great deal due to tense because the reported speech can change once a certain amount of time passes by. If someone said that they were going to take out the trash today but you were reporting that to someone the day after that event was to have taken place then you would have to change the sentence to: He said that he was going to take out the trash yesterday.
