This unit first covered authentic vs created materials, which was very helpful. Authentic material are from the real world, while created materials are specifically made for classroom activities. Both are can be helpful, and using only one kind will not be affective. The rest of the chapter was dedicated to coursebooks, and what makes a good or bad coursebook. Coursebooks have their advantages and disadvantages. The structure can be rigid and therefore boring to the students, but they all have proven and affective methods that can really help the students. A balance of all of these is key to creating a positive and affective learning environment.
