This unit focuses on past tenses, which are simple past, past continuous, past perfect and past perfect continuous. Similarly to unit 4 (present tenses), how to form positive and negative sentences and how to form questions are explained for every time. The sections about the appropriate use of each tense are particularly useful, because they clarify how and when each time should be used. Again, typical mistakes and errors are outlined and teaching ideas for the Activation stage of the lesson are given. As for unit 4, these can be usefully applied to lesson planning: activities, tasks as well as correction explanations can be prepared in advance.
