A majority of the teaching methods that were first introduced in this unit were familiar. I just didn't know the actual names to the methodologies. But now I do! The Lexical approach and Audio-Lingualism are two methods that I was exposed to when I took chinese language classes as a child. For the ESA part of the unit, I was taught something similar in the Boy Scouts of America. ESA standing for Engage, Study, and Activate. In the BSA, we have something called EDGE. A method of teaching a new skill to a beginner. EDGE standing for Explain, Demonstrate, Guide, and Enable. Which is very similar to the ESA method of teaching as this unit goes over.
