In this unit, receptive skills are explained. Receptive skills include reading and listening. These too skills require students to be able to hear and see. While these skills are important for the learning process, students who cannot hear or see should have accommodations made so they can participate in class. For example, if the student has bad eyesight, they may need a textbook with larger text, and it may be helpful for them to sit toward the front of the class. Reading and listening can be boring, so using a variety of topics and different kinds of modalities will spark the interest of all students, and provide engagement for the whole class.
