I learned that pronunciation if often neglected due to lack of confidence and/or the ability to teach it (possibly also a feeling that it isn't necessary and it would be hard to teach as some teachers feel that there are too many exceptions and not enough standardised rules to help students). Phonology is defined as the study, science and analysis of ther physical properties of sound and in this unit 3 components were taught - stress, intonation and rhythm. i was also introduced to the International Phonemic Alphabet and phonemic symbols (not easy to learn). Lastly, I was taught about articulation and the organs involved in making various sounds.
