I find lesson plans can be useful or not useful, depending on the level of the students. We design lesson plans to suit the level of the students that we are teaching, but out of those students probably 1 to 2 students won't understand. So it allows to the teacher to stay for focus on one part of the lesson plan longer than expected. I understand no to spend to much time on one part of the lesson, but when doing an activity if the student doesn't understand complete he/she will not complete or take much longer on the activity then expected. I think make notes as the teacher moves a long in the lesson is easier and flexible for the class as a whole.
