In this unit I learned about teaching speaking and writing skills. It is useful to learn what tools and activities can be used to increase the students' confidence to speak. I also realise now that although there will be room for improvement, the teacher is not meant to correct the student when he is speaking when the focus is on language fluency. I now understand that it would be best to be somewhat discrete in a case of reoccurring individual mistakes. The section about writing was short but very useful. Without reading it I would not have realised some of the possible pitfalls for students that are directly related to their linguistic background.
