This unit is centered around coursebook lesson material. There are three principle resources an ESL teacher will at their disposal to teach, authentic material, coursebook material and created material. Authentic material can be anything preexisting designed to be read by native English speakers, whereas coursebook material is designed for a learners at a certain level of English. Material produced by the teacher designed for the particular class they are teaching is referred to as 'created material'. In this unit we see where and when it is appropriate to use coursebook material and where it is appropriate to produce authentic or creative material.
