In unit 6 we watched two videos of students in an English language class. In both lessons we have the same teacher and the same students. The language point in both lessons is also the same. However, there are some major differences between the success of lesson 1 and lesson 2. In lesson 1 the teacher is unfriendly and has an impatient attitude toward the students. He does not take time to thoroughly explain activities and language points. This unfriendly attitude makes the students feel intimidated and reluctant to participate. In lesson 2 however, the teacher has a friendly and more relaxed attitude. He explains instructions clearly and makes sure the students understand before moving on. He encourages the students when they are confused or make mistakes. In lesson 2 the teacher's friendly attitude prompts the students to participate and become involved in the lesson. These two lessons show how much the attitude of the teacher affects the success of any class. When the teacher in cold toward the students they react with reserved attitudes. There is also little student participation. However, when the teacher is warm and friendly toward the students they open up and feel encouraged to participate in the class.
