This first unit focuses on the role and qualities of a teacher as well as taking a closer look at the different aspects of the learner. This unit is a good reminder of the important role the teacher has in the ?learning? of his students. Teaching efficiently and bringing the students to learn and perform to the best of their ability requires much more than just giving them information from a book, much more than being a good ?manager or controller?. Of course, the perfect context would be to have a student who?s willing to learn and who?s motivated. However, a good teacher would be one that would be able to interest and motivate students that were not even interested in the first place. A good teacher needs to be passionate about what he is teaching in order to captivate his students? interest but that isn?t enough. A good teacher should be interested in his audience and able to assess which teaching strategy would be best to apply in the different situations he is in or according to the atmosphere of his class and therefore to look at his students individually (their culture, level, abilities, attitude and response). A good teacher would be one that has a positive impact on a student.
