This unit-Present tense- covers the four different tenses that exist in English language in relation to the present. Although other tense will most likely be use by native speaker, it is still good to explore them as part of teaching. On a personal note though, all four of them can still be used by the teachers teaching not only students of second or foreign language but also those advanced level students. The topic of tenses surely could boost the teaching level of teacher especially when the usage of the verb tense has been identified and specified. Having learnt all these would give the teachers more rooms in teaching students how to use them more than theoretical side of learning. In teaching the SAT for example, most of the students would only know the continuous and the simple tense. Although they may know that the other two tenses exist, they may also find themselves confused on how to use them. For instance, it is easy for them to say that present tense is used when it is happening now. With the right teacher- who knows other usage of the tenses-, students will be able to understand the particular tense at hand. e.g. present tense must also be use for factual information, for habitual actions, commentaries and more.
