Unit 19 deals with teaching different groups and how to manage the problems that teachers are likely to encounter. Teachers can teach classes of students or individuals in one-to-one lessons. In this case, whatever their level is, the difference lies in the kind of activities which can be delivered. In the first case, the whole class can participate at the same time (i.e. choral repetitions) or the work can be organised in groups or pairs. This is obviously not possible in one-to-one lessons when the teacher can better address the student?s need, but activities are generally shorter and much less fun. Another difference is the level of students: they can range from very beginners to advanced students. The first have difficulties to access at a very basic understanding of the language, while the second want to improve some specific skills, generally for a purpose like taking an exam or getting enrolled in a university. Finally, some people or companies might require very specific courses where, despite gathering people with different ages and, sometimes, levels, the goal is to learn for clear purposes such as Business, IT, Science, etc. This is often strictly related to those people?s personal or professional lives.
