I honestly had not thought about the structure of a full class lesson for ESL. I have only worked one on one with students before and therefore find this stage in my learning this material very difficult. I love the different games suggested ie. hangman, word search, tongue twisters, gap fill, and enjoy the idea of having activities like fizz buzz, memory, and I Spy to help the students engage and activate in the language.Up until now I have only let the student lead the ideas they would like to cover, but if I was assigned to cover certain material, I can see now what a huge challenge it would be. I like the boomerang method because it draws from what I would see in my class, the problems they might have, and I would then be able to cover those concepts in more detail in the study portion of the class before handing it back over to them for a discussion or activity. I like the written games more than the play-acting games myself, so would need to push myself to try different methods at different points or with different classes. In short, I am now more focused on how I would be able to cement a student's acquisition of their new language through different techniques and styles, and am excited, if not daunted, to try them out.
