In this unit, I learned how to report speech from direct speech. Although I have learned these tenses since I was a child, this unit provided me with concrete material to better my understanding of the conditional concept. Reported speech is a topic for more intermediate and advanced levels of English. Zero conditional takes the form of \" if/when+ present tense, present tense.\" An example of this is \"If you heat up ice, it melts.\" The first conditional form is similar to the zero form. Instead of the \"if\" phrase being followed by a present tense verb, it is followed with a future clause using \"will.\" An example of this form is, \"If you eat ice cream quickly, you will get a brain freeze.\" The second conditional form is used to speak in the conditional about what you hypothetically would do in certain situations. For example, \"If I had one million dollars, I would buy a house in Bali.\" The third conditional is similarly hypothetical, and it follows this sentence structure,\"If I had completed my homework, I would not have received a zero for the assignment.\" Lastly, the mixed conditional is a combination of forms. An example of this is \"If I had improved my grade, I would be done with the class.\" "Teflonlinenet_215900
