Because I am not an English classroom teacher and I received all my formal training in teaching under the outcome base (OBE) system of education, everything of the ESA lesson plan/structure is new and refreshing to me. Unit 7 covers Teaching Vocabulary, Grammatical Structures and Language Functions within the ESA lesson plan form. With each category comes helpful examples of Engage, Study and Activate stage activities/techniques and a lesson plan ,guiding you to plan a lesson regarding any of the three language areas in this unit that you want to plan. Firstly we covered things the student needs to do when learning a new language, depending factors that that would influence a students difficulty in learning a new language,criteria for choosing vocabulary,what students need to know about vocabulary items. Grammatical structures are determined by the level of the class and the syllabus.The things student must know, like meaning, usage forms,patterns and written or spoken forms. Language Functions includes inviting,refusing,agreeing, disagreeing,suggestion etc. It also includes appropriateness.It stresses the need for activation of the language and is most effectively used in boomerang and patchwork ESA. Role play very important here.
