This lesson talked about productive skills: speaking and writing. Most of students prefer to focus on their speaking skill. But it doesn't mean that writing is not important. Writing is often relegated to homework.When people communicate with each other. Definitely because of these reasons as follow: They have some communicative purpose, they want to say something, they want to listen to something, they are interested in what is being said. There are some speaking activities in the classroom. Controlled activities and guided activities are accuracy based activities. Creative communication is fluency based activities. Controlled activities consist of drilling and prompting. Guided activities including model dialogues and guided role-play. Creative communication has free role-play, discussion, information gap, debates, simulations and communication games. Teacher should encourage student to speak, but students might be shy or not really participate in the class. These reasons could cause this problem: lack of confidence, fear of making mistake, peer information, lack of interest in the topics, previous learning experiences and cultural reasons. For writing part, we should work on handwriting, spelling, layout and punctuation and creative writing.
