OMG this unit was excellent! At first I could not get into watching the videos but then when I finally could focus I absolutely loved the first one. I realize that the second video is the proper way to conduct a classroom and relay content but this guy is wonderful. He did an excellent job exhibiting the wrong kind of behavior and he cracked me up. I have to tell you that right now my mind is focused on taking this course and other academic courses, so mental stress... and I needed not only a great show of the proper and improper teaching approach but also a good laugh. This hit the spot. I really loved the way he got the students engaged in the second lesson, the length and thoroughness of the practice/study portion and then the imaginary animal drawings during the activate. I loved the way he had all the students repeat the correct sentence structure and then asked individual students. I think that this approach reduces student insecurity and encourages to be more participatory. Very awesome, very inclusive. The fact that he not only is wanting them to learn English (aux-verb), represent it in a visual form but he also called on them to exercise their imagination and I have a great appreciation for this, especially when it comes from educators.
