In conclusion, this unit is about our course books and extra lessons materials in language teaching. Course books usually consist a set of materials: student's book, workbook and teacher's book. Course books have a balanced mix of grammar, vocabulary and skills work, and they often provide a syllabus which is graded to the level suitable for students. However, course books still have some disadvantages. They don't always fit the specific needs or interest of the students and they are sometimes outdated and boring for students. So when planning lessons, the teacher should think which needs to be supplemented, replaced or adapted. The teacher should never base all lessons around course books. In terms of extra lesson materials, they can be divided into two kinds: authentic materials and created materials. Authentic materials are often more interesting and appealing to students while created materials can be graded for language level. In teaching, the teacher should consider the language level of students and carefully choose materials to match the needs of students. Good materials can help students build confidence and make them motivated. Therefore, teachers should balance the content and extra ads well to devise a lesson plan suitable for students.
