Unit 13 talks about pieces of equipment and teaching aids that can be used in the language classroom. Based on my experience, what I feel as though I learned from this unit is that many tools that teachers use in today's society to help them teach, relies heavily on technology. This can range from a whiteboard, a computer, and software such as Microsoft Word or PowerPoint. As teachers, (not only language teachers) we must adapt to whatever technology is available to work with, and if a teacher works in a school or an institution that does not have a lot of funding, chances are there will not be much equipment or teaching aids available to assist their teaching. Teachers must find a way to adapt with what they can work with. In today's society, teachers as well as students who are studying to become future educators, technology is an area that needs to be mastered. However, even if technology will continue to be used in the classroom, the teacher must always have a backup plan in case if the technology equipment or teaching aid was to fail him or her. The most important point to keep in mind is what is the purpose of the technology and teaching aids that are being used in the classroom. Technology is to assist education and not the other way around.
