After watching about 2 minutes of the first video, I felt that had I been in that classroom, I'd have gotten up and walked out in disgust. Clearly the first video was an example of what not to do. The second video on the other hand was much easier to watch. The teacher's attitude was far more engaging and the it showed in the students' participation in the class. This is the kind of the thing that should be common sense I would think, but perhaps some people don't realize it. The fact that the teacher smiled is important for another reason. It turns out that you can \"hear\" a smile when someone is talking. The simple act of smiling while talking actually changes the way your voice sounds and, in most cases, makes your voice sound more pleasant. When training people to become radio DJ's instructors will emphasize that, unless you're delivering a news story that involves death of some other tragedy, you should smile when you talk, especially when you are trying to prompt someone to do something, because your voice sounds more pleasant and energetic. You sound happier. Some of this change in voice is subconscious on your part, and the effect that it has on listeners is likewise subconscious, but it is real and makes a significant difference.
