I learned that there are 12 tenses. The simple present is used to describe actions that are happening in the present or are permanent facts. It is formed with the simple form of the verb. The present continuous is formed using to be and the ing form of the verb. It is used to talk about an action in progress, to talk about temp. actions, to talk about frequent actions, background events in a present story, to describe developing situations, and to refer to a regular action around a point of time. The present perfect is formed with have and the past participle of the verb. It is used when we talk about finished actions that happened at indefinite times, when we are thinking about completed past actions carried out in an unfinished time period at the time of speaking, Whe we talk about something which began in the past and is still true now, at the time of speaking, when we describe past actions with present results. Present Perfect Continuous Relates past activities to the present, it implies it has been going on a long time, or will continue in the future. It is formed using have and been and the ing form of the verb. it used to communicate incomplete and ongoing activities, and to describe recently finished activity which has a present result.
