It is important to be able to identify the different parts of speech. Nouns are people, places, things or qualities. They can be countable or uncountable. Adjectives are used to describe nouns. The articles \"a\" and \"an\" are indefinite and \"the\" is definite. Transitive verbs are followed by an object while intransitive verbs cannot be followed directly by an object. The four principal forms of verbs are the base form, the past simple, past participle and the present participle. Adverbs can modify an adjective or another adverb. gerunds are \"ing\" form of a verb used as a noun. Pronouns can be personal, reflective, possessive or relative. There are also conjunctions and prepositions.
