This was the most difficult unit for me, thus far. As a native English speaker I have been exposed to phonetics since birth. Everyone expresses himself/herself through words and sentences. I have been privy to naturally understanding what it means when someone stresses something through context, through their expressions and gestures. I experience it every day, living in an English-speaking country, and I use the language myself in the same way. It will be a challenge for me to teach this part of English learning, but I will get it with time. If students learning English have already learned the symbols in the international dictionary then they will be one step ahead of me in this respect.
