Unit 6 explained the four past tenses: past simple, past continuous, past perfect and past perfect continuous. Like Unit 4 (present tenses), it provided explanations of the forms, usages, common student errors and gave some example teaching ideas. Having completed the unit on present tenses, I found this unit much easier to get through in comparison. However, what I found difficult in this part of the course was thinking of ways to explain to students the differences between various tense forms. I had to think of strategies to explain differences in structure, usage and give example sentences. I still lack confidence in this area but I hope I will improve as I complete the units that follow.
