In their native languages, students are able to pronounce, annunciate and stress different words and phrases in ways that are understood in their culture--imagine trying to teach the same ideas but in English. In the last unit I learned about the \"3 by 3\" rule where the teacher would practice with and prompt the students how to pronounce a particular word three times then call on three individual students for verification of understanding. Pronounciation is difficult even for native English language speakers so it's doubly important to have the confidence and understanding of words to educate. The George Bernard Shaw poem perfectly summarized the maniacal language that is English spelling!
