Unit 12 covers how to teach productive skills. The two productive skills are speaking and writing. These skills go hand in hand with reading and listening, the two receptive skills taught in Unit 11. There are two major kinds of speaking activities; fluency and accuracy. The goal of accuracy activities is for students to practice correct grammar and language. Whereas fluency activities aim for more creative conversation and natural flow when conveying ideas in spoken English. When teaching writing skills, it's important to focus on handwriting, spelling, punctuation, and creative writing. Language games can be incorporated into classes of all ages, including competetive and co-operative games.
