This unit laid out helpful examples of what it looks like to plan a lesson. While lesson planning may not need to be so detailed and structured once the teacher is more experienced, it is helpful to have a plan to follow when you need a little bit more to go off of to keep the class more focused. Flexibility is key. When teaching a class, the students may need more time on an activity, or they may be enjoying it a lot, eliciting a lot of student interaction. These activities you may want to carry out a little longer than initially planned out. Lesson plans aren't just helpful for planning or keeping focused during a lesson, they also serve as a helpful record of what the students have gone over.
