There are four present tenses, the present simple, present continuous, present perfect and present perfect continuous. Usuages of present simple include \" habitual or routines, facts, commentaries, directions and instructions, newspaper headlines, present stories and historical sequences. When dealing with present continuous most non-progressive verbs won't be used, however there are exceptions with some verbs carrying and different definition depending on the tense that is being used. The present perfect tense relates the past and the present. The present perfect continuous relates the past to the present but also implies the activity is likely to continue or has been in progress for some time.
