This unit provides ways to conceptualize how we think about what different past tenses tell us about their subjects. For example, different past tenses describe how long the actions being described likely lasted, and whether they were preceded or proceded by other events being described. Past simple.verbs are usually conjugated with the -d and -ed suffix added to the end of regular verbs. It is often used with definite times in the past. Past continuous is often used to express ongoing actions that had been happening during the time period being spoken of. Past perfect and past perfect continuous forms both use the word 'had', and both allow us to describe the past from another point in the past.
