This unit covered information on common problem situations that teachers can come across in EFL teaching as well as some strategies to help deal with them. Building rapport with students in the first lesson of teaching is of utmost importance as it helps set the tone for the remainder of the course. Especially with a new group where students do not know each other, it is important to establish rapport between the students as well. Using different ice-breakers and warmers are a great way of motivating and engaging students. This unit also looked at techniques to handle large classes, the learner?s use of their native language, reluctant students, and finally, difficulties with listening tasks.
