There are four present tenses. 1. Present simple - general fact,truths, routines, habits. Uses helping verbs to 'be' and 'have' Subject + base form of verb. 2. The present continuous - the verb + ing. Also known as present participle. Subject + auxiliary verb be' + verb + ing. 3. Present perfect. have and has are the helping verbs. Many past participle verbs are irregular and must be memorised. Its relating something in the past to somethings in the present. 4. Present Perfect continuous- this combines the present continuous and present perfect. Uses helping verbs have and has + been + verb + ing. For incomplete and ongoing activities and recently finished activities with present results.
