In this unit course books and lesson materials, we learn what are authentic materials and what are created materials. We learn that authentic materials can be considered anything a native speaker can hear or read on their native language, they might not be graded for a level and should be selected carefully. Created materials are usually designed by the teacher to replace or supplement a course book and these materials can be graded to the level of the students. We also learn what to look for in course book like advantages (tried and tested syllabus, balanced materials, etc.) and course book use options like: omitting, replacing, supplementing and adapting materials in to their lesson or syllabus.
