Learning to recognise, understand and use the tenses in English language may create a fair amount of confusion in our students. Considering present simple, continuous and perfect, it is a teacher's key task to offer a clear explanation of their function and differences, strongly backed by well chosen examples to demonstrate their correct usage. I believe the examples should be thoughtfully tailored to the students' realm of experience, to give them a certain shortcut to internalising the context that each tense is used in.
