Unit Twelve covered how to teach the productive skills of speaking and writing, which are both important means of communication. In the classroom, activities for productive skills fall under two categories: accuracy and fluency. The former is focused on producing correct language while the latter is focused on effectiveness and flow. Positive feedback and opportunities for practice are important for engaging students in a facet of learning English that can be different from their native language. I learned that being empathetic to how students may react to putting this into practice is important. Making this section enjoyable and fun is also key to getting students to feel relaxed and less intimidated by sharing their pronunciations or writings with their peers.
