Unit 14 is primarily concentrated on the use of course books as a teaching tool. More importantly, though, the text helps to explain the advantages and disadvantages of using course books. As a final instruction, methods for the best utilization of course books are offered. The teacher is instructed to critique the course book to see if it is appropriate to the needs of his/her students. Several suggestions are offered to aid the teacher in supplementing the course book material. Among them are devoting part of the lesson to the teacher's own created activities. This Unit was beneficial to me in that my non-profit organization has recently switched to a newer series of course books, which have dramatically altered the methods we now use for our ESL classes.
