I have a tendency to over-correct and be a perfectionist for others' work as well as my own, so from this lesson I took away the importance of not correcting at every point of the lesson and allowing for the students to exercise fluency creatively. I learned a lot from the section detailing the difference between controlled, guided, and creative speaking exercises. Keeping these in mind, I can help my students learn the material carefully and specifically through drilling and group pronunciation exercises, then relinquish control some as they practice in pair or group dialogues, then allow them to have more control in a creative fluency-based activity. I like the idea of group-writing projects also, since this allows for collaboration as well as writing practice.
