In this unit I have learned about the various ways of managing a classroom and the various issues that come up when doing so. The way a teacher sets up a classroom and approaches an activity will have a major impact on how the class will interact with it. Age is a major factor when attempting to establish discipline as well as students' reasons for enrolling in English class. Various activities have upsides and downsides. Some increase Teacher Talk Time and some increase Student Talk Time. Thus a balance of different kinds of activities is important for cultivating different kinds of skills. A teacher must try to be intentional about setting up activities, approaching topics and introducing language in order to ensure that students are learning as much as possible.
