This unit covers speaking and writing, the productive skills. Both skills need to have accuracy and fluency focused activities. First the students work on accurately producing things and then they can work on fluently producing what they want. The lesson said that students should learn spelling through extensive reading. Extensive reading should also be able to reinforce grammar and other aspects of english as well. Reading is key to writing, that is true even in one's native language. And listening is key to speaking as well. One final small thing I learned in the unit is the 3x3. I have used a 3 system in the past, merely having all the students chorally repeat things 3 times. The extra x3 seems like it could be very useful as well. I look forward to trying it out.
