There was much to glean from this unit, but something that struck me the most (and I will take it to heart) is elicitation. The value of elicitation is quite high, and it can be severely underrated most times. The temptation of many teachers it to tell you what you need to learn and keep telling you what you need to learn, instead of asking probing questions to see if you know the material (eliciting a response). Other than the above, ESA (Engage, Study, Activate) is a wonderfully, thoroughly thought out method. I especially like the Patchwork Method. It is the most 'drawn out' method, but also very thorough as it revisits each phase as many times as needed by the teacher and pupils. I love the activity examples and ideas given for each part of ESA-- very helpful.
