Unit 14: Coursebooks and Lesson Material went over some important aspects to consider when choosing a coursebook for your class and what type of lesson material you should use. There are three main types of coursebook material - student book, workbook, and teacher's book. The student book gives the student material to read, the workbook gives the student activities to develop what they were reading and the teacher's book is what the teacher is aiming to teach during these activities. It goes on to explain the advantages and disadvantages of using coursebooks and what to consider while using them with these four steps - omit, replace, supplement and adapt. It also discussed the two types of lesson material - authentic (real) material, and (teacher) created material.
