This unit breaks down the nuanced concepts of conditionals and reported speech and makes them digestible for English learners. The unit separates the conditional into 5 different subcategories: zero conditional, first conditional, second conditional, third conditional, and mixed conditional. I learned how to differentiate between these forms, how to formulate them in grammatical terms, and in what situations they are appropriately used. This unit offers a variety of ideas for games and in-class activities that serve as good practice for the use of these concepts in conversation. For example, in my own class, to practice reported speech, I might organize a role-play activity in which two students refuse to speak to each other and only communicate through a third party.
