This unit stresses the importance of productive skills, such as speaking and writing. It is up to the teacher to get the students interested enough to want to communicate and participate. Accuracy and fluency play a big part in this unit, each being used in different phases of the lesson. For example; accuracy is important during study phases with activities such as drilling exercises, fluency is more important during the activate phase where students put their knowledge to practical use. Teachers should encourage students to improve their writing, spelling and punctuation. This can be done by using games in the classroom and by letting students do the work in groups or pairs. Both writing and speaking skills are equally important and should be incorporated in lessons.
